Founded by beekeeper Melissa Vona, and made possible by “the ladies” (the bees) of the clan, Forest Fairy Apiary is dedicated to personal health, healing the land, and helping the bees.
We have operated out of King City, Ontario, since 2018.
OUR PROCESS AND PHILOSOPHY
I strive to participate in a reciprocal way with nature, because I live in nature, I am nature – we all are nature.
The exploitation of nature, where people take and take from nature for individual gain, {feeling}. So with whatever I create – whether it’s honey or herbal tea blends or tinctures – the process must be holistic and respectful of Mother Nature.
With honey, I {keep in mind} that my bees are also part of nature and need support as pollinators. Thus, I practice beekeeping as ethically as I can, for example, by planting flowers for them or not feeding them sugar.
With herbal medicines and tea blends, I try to grow all the ingredients myself. If I can’t, I get them from trusted people whose standards of practice and quality match mine.
In working with those natural ingredients, I try to take only what the wild …. to create the smallest impact on nature. At the same time, I work to cultivate a reciprocal relationship with nature – for example, by picking up garbage or replicating a forest with cuttings of trees – because with reciprocation plus care comes sustainability.
